In a 2007 in vitro/ex vivo study (Pyo et al.), AHK-Cu was reported to stimulate cultured dermal papilla cell proliferation, raise the Bcl-2/Bax ratio, reduce cleaved caspase-3 and PARP markers, increase vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) production, and decrease TGF-beta1 secretion by dermal fibroblasts.
